Michigan Avenue Baptist Church calls new pastor

Dually aligned (ABC-USA/CBF) Michigan Avenue Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI, welcomed the Reverend David S. Van Brakle on June 17 to serve as the church’s senior pastor. David recently served as an assistant pastor at the First Baptist Church of Macedon, NY, and interned as a chaplain at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Van Brakle recently received his Master of Divinity degree at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, NY. He has also received a degree from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA.

“I look forward to serving MABC at such an important time in the life of the church and our community. The enthusiasm of the church members in defining our ministry in collaboration with the larger community drew me to this opportunity. It is important that we transform ordinary Sunday congregants into ministers within our communities,” commented David upon accepting Michigan Avenue’s call.

David is engaged to Erica R. Ashburn, who formerly worked in production for several news agencies and is now attending seminary at Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, KS.
